ATSC 3.0 (aka NextGen TV) promises a future of resolution-agnostic broadcasts that include video resolutions up to 8K, high dynamic range, and targeted emergency alerting and advertising. As an approved standard that is optional for broadcasters to use, there is now a smattering of TV stations in the U.S. transmitting ATSC 3.0—but how many viewers are watching?
