FEMA and the FCC sent out a public reminder that a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019 beginning at 2:20 p.m EDT.

FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System will conduct the test.

This year’s test will assess whether the national alerting system is capable of alerting the public in the case of available internet connectivity.

A message will only be sent to radio and television stations, this test does not include a cell phone alert.
