South Korean broadcasters MBC, KBS and SBS will start ultra high-definition (UHD) broadcasting later this week, Yonhap news agency reports, citing a statement from the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. According to the Ministry, the three broadcasters will initially transmit their content in super high resolution in Seoul, the port city of Incheon and other areas.

UHD broadcasts provide four times the resolution of the current high-definition broadcasts, officials said. Also, viewers can experience various IP-based services when they connect their TVs to the internet.
